Dojo
The dojo is the place to learn the way. It is a comfortable environment of trust and respect for the instructor, for fellow students, and for the self. It is a place where everyone is encouraged to do their best
Rules
- Be on time for class. To be late is an insult to your Sensei.
- All members shall remove their shoes before entering the dojo.
- All members shall bow when entering or leaving the dojo. This a sign of respect.
- All members shall bow to instructors when entering or leaving the dojo.
- All members shall bow to each other before entering or leaving class. This is done as part of the class instruction.
- Do not leave class without the Sensei’s permission.
- When you answer yes or when you bow, say “Osu” at all times.
- No talking or laughing at any time while class is in session.
- No profanity or abusive language will be allowed in the dojo.No rings or other jewelry to be worn during practice.
- Keep your fingernails and toenails short at all times.
- No candy or gun is chewed while in class.
- No smoking in the dojo at any time.
- Do not consume any alcoholic beverages before a class or practice.
- All students will begin as white belts.
- Members of the class are responsible for keeping the dojo clean. Ask how you can help.
- Do not leave personal articles in the dojo.
Dress Code
- A white karate uniform shall be worn for karate class. It shall be kept clean and neat at all times. Be sure it is hemmed to regulation length.
- Black pants and school t-shirt are worn for tai chi
